With this one-week full-time course, EGM builds a bridge between gemmology, jewellery, fashion and history (we could write “History”).
From the jewels of Antiquity to those of the Middle Ages, through Art Nouveau, Art Deco, royal finery and high jewellery, you will go back through the time to discover the techniques used and the choice of stones specific to each era and each region of the world.
Beyond the craftsman’s know-how, each ancient jewel also bears witness to a culture, a social or religious order and an economic context. And it is with this curious and profoundly human look that Céline David, gemologist specialized in medieval jewellery and expert with auction houses, approaches the history of jewellery.
