This two-day practical workshop takes participants through the grading process used by gemmologists, jewellers and laboratories.
Who Should Take This Course
Whether you are researching before making a purchase or want to hone your existing diamond grading skills this course provides hands-on experience perfect for beginners and professionals alike.
Through a series of practical exercises using carefully selected specimens from our collection students will learn how to apply the 4C’s of facetted diamond grading. Participants learn how Colour, Clarity, Carat, and Cut are judged by professionals to determine a diamond’s quality.
Students will also learn about common diamond imitations and how to distinguish them from natural diamonds.
What You’ll Receive
Students receive an EGM diamond grading manual designed to help them retain what they see in class and serve as a valuable reference for the future.
Students who successfully complete the class and pass the practical exam will receive a letter of completion from EGM

At the end of the workshop and if you have passed the evaluation test, you will receive a certificate from the EGM.
For those who want to further pursue their gemmological training, EGM offers a Certificate program. Students who complete Gemmology 1, 2, 3, and 4, as well as the Coloured Stone Grading and Pearl Grading Workshops can sit the EGM Certificate exams. Students who successfully pass the Certificate theory and practical exams will receive an EGM Certificate in Gemmology.
