Gem Identification 2

The Gem Identification 2 workshop, developed by the WGF (World Gem Foundation), is devoted to the practical identification of stones grouped by color.

This five day workshop provides ‘hands-on’ experience working with an array of gem testing instruments at a fully-equipped workstation. Gemstones covered in this workshop belong to the blue, violet/purple, brown, black colour groupings or are unusual in appearance or exhibit optical phenomena.

This will allow you to compare them from a practical point of view and understand how it is possible to differentiate them when they have the same appearance.

Who should take this course

This practical workshop is intended for lovers of coloured stones with a solid knowledge of gemmology, students wishing to become gemmologists or gemmologists specialised in coloured stones.

Professional gemmologists can also upgrade their knowledge thanks to the in-depth approach that this workshop offers in the identification of coloured stones.

Prerequisites

We draw your attention to the fact that you must have validated the theory courses Basic Gemmology, Advanced Gemmology  Gem Identification and the workshop Gem Identification 1 before registering.

However, this course may be of interest to professional gemmologists wishing to update or enrich their knowledge. In this case, please contact the EGM at info@egmtl.com.

If you wish to obtain the Career Gemmologist or Coloured Gemstones Professional diplomas, it is strongly advised to respect the organisation of the courses as indicated in the right-hand column.

This course is part of the Career Gemmologist and Coloured Gemstone Professional diploma programs. If you wish to follow these programs, the next course is Lab-created and Treated Gems.
