| Regular tests are given for each course which ends with a final exam. Students who obtain a passing grade of 65% or more receive a letter of completion. |

Students who have taken the Diamond Grading Workshop, the four basic courses, and passed the tests with a 65% grade and the final exam with a 75% grade or over receive an EGM gemmology certificate. |

Learn how gems form, where diamonds, rubies, sapphires, emeralds and many other coloured stones come from. Learn about pearls and what makes them valuable. Find out about treatments and syntheses, imitations and how to care for gems. Support material includes audio-visual aids and samples of various gemstones. Learn how to examine a stone under a loupe. |

Learn how to use gemmological instruments, and the optical and physical characteristics of the various gems. Part of the course deals with lesser known gems. At the end of the course you should have mastered the gem identification process. |

The focus will be on inclusion observation and all synthetic, enhanced or treated gems' specific features. Work with dozens of natural, synthetic, enhanced and treated stones.
Students who pass the final exam (written and practical) with a grade of 75% or over and who have taken the Diamond Grading Workshop receive an EGM Gemmology Certificate.
